Backing up Putty Config

Ever wanted to backup your Putty settings, either because you are changing machine or you have spent such a long time configuring the multiple custom options in Putty you don’t want to ever lose all that work. Unfortunately Putty does not have an export option so we have to go back to basics and export out the Putty registry key to save the settings. I will say now that if you are not comfortably with using regedit then I would suggest not taking the risk and leaving it well alone, one wrong change can kill your OS on the next boot.

Parent Paths in IIS 7

Classic ASP Parent Paths let developers use relative addresses that contain ".." in the paths to files or folders. The following example illustrates an ASP page that references an included file in a folder that uses a parent path:

By default in IIS 6.0 + parent paths are disabled, as far as Microsoft was concerned parent paths constitutes a potential security risk, because an include path could access critical or confidential files outside the root directory of the application.

What are 2008 R2 Server core’s
The Server Core installation option is a new option that you can use for installing Windows Server 2008. A Server Core installation provides a minimal environment for running specific server roles, which reduces the maintenance and management requirements and the attack surface for those server roles.
The Server Core installation option of Windows Server 2008 requires initial configuration at a command prompt. A Server Core installation does not include the traditional full graphical user interface. Once you have configured the server, you can manage it locally at a command prompt or remotely using a Terminal Server connection. You can also manage the server remotely using the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) or command-line tools that support remote use.
